Leland Lee Akamu, 63, Kailua, Oahu, died April 17, 2012 at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Ka'u, Hawaii on June 4, 1948, he was a welder for BAE (British Aerospace) Systems Hawaii Shipyard; a member of Local 1998, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Worker-IAE; and he was caretaker of the Macomber family gravesite in Ka'u. Friends may call at 10 a.m. May 19, 2012 at the Naalehu Clubhouse in Naalehu Park for an 11 a.m. memorial service. The family requests casual attire and flowers be omitted. He is survived by his brothers, Terry Akamu of Kailua, Oahu, Russell Akamu of Pearl City, Oahu and Payton (Pua) Akamu of Kapaau; sisters, Shirley Clark of Missouri, Brenda (Ron) Garlock of Kailua, Oahu; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
