John “Sonny” Kaiewe, Jr., 83, of Hilo, died on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at home. He was born on August 7, 1929 in Olaa, Hawaii. He was a retired resource manager specialist for the U.S. Department of Interior at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Glad Tidings Church in Hilo; the Hawaii Army National Guard; and Keola Pono No Na Kupuna. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday (May 7, 2013) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; Celebration of His Life at 10 a.m.; burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2. Aloha attire.
