Herbert Patrick De Luz, 78, of Honokaa, died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. He was born on May 6, 1933 in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. He was a Rancher/Meat Cutter for Frank De Luz Ranch, Inc. and a Professional Cook. He was the 2012 President of the Resident Counsel at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. He was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paauilo; a former member of the Honokaa Businessman Association and the Puako Businessman Association; Counsel to the Hawaii Portuguese Heritage; former Treasurer for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paauilo; and former member of the Kukuau Kumiai. Visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 18, 2012) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa; Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Urn Committal Services will be held at a later date. Casual attire. Survived by, brothers, David (Josephine) De Luz, Sr. of Paauilo and Frank De Luz, III of Hilo; sister, Gladys (Bruce) Mello of Honolulu, Oahu; one aunt; numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
